Developing a Cadet in Partnership with CLC NSW

November 22, 2023

In June 2023, we celebrated a partnership with Community Legal Centres NSW (CLCNSW) and our Justice Support Centre Legal team, resulting in the six-month development of a Cadet.

This initiative allowed the Cadet, Aimee, to engage in diverse roles, from assisting the Legal Team in various tasks, collaborating with the Communications Manager to enhance our social media platforms, to working with our Financial Counsellor to design Aboriginal Office signage for our Bankstown office’s meeting rooms.

Aimee’s tenure wasn’t just limited to these; she also supported our Local Court duty service, participated in a mediation, and enriched our Community Legal Education program.

Aimee’s involvement enabled us to tackle long-standing tasks like compiling a central database of local stakeholders. Additionally, Aimee introduced us to the benefits of AI and other technologies, optimising our project-based operations. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to CLCNSW for facilitating such a rewarding program

Aimee said of the opportunity…

I had such an incredible time participating in my cadetship with JSC. I was able to get involved in so many activities that were enriching to my learning including attending court days and community legal education workshops. I appreciate Bobbi from CLCNSW for making this cadetship happen as well as Montanna, Jillian and Sun-Jae for being amazing mentors during my time at JSC and thank you to everyone else for making my time here so enjoyable.
