JSC DOLS Solicitor gives appropriate advice and supports positive outcome for client

Jenny* had a minor car accident shortly less than two months after having a new baby.

Unaware her vehicle had scratched another car while leaving a shopping centre, she was later visited by police who showed her CCTV footage from the accident. Although Jenny acknowledged responsibility for the accident and had initiated the process to repair the other car, the police charged her with negligent driving and failure to provide particulars.

Concerned about the potential impact on her licence, Jenny sought legal advice. Her solicitor guided her through the court process, advising her to plead guilty and submit character references, a letter of remorse including information about her circumstances as a new parent and carer for her husband. She was also advised to include the car insurance documents that confirmed her payment of the damage to the other vehicle. Jenny asked our DOLS (Driving Offences Legal Service) solicitor if she could email through her documents for review before court. Our solicitor reviewed Jenny’s letter of apology and character references to confirm that all the documents were suitable for Court.

At her Court date, Jenny pleaded guilty and provided her documents to the presiding Magistrate. The Magistrate considered the circumstances of the offences and after reading Jenny’s documents finalised the matter by imposing two good behaviour bonds without proceeding to conviction. As a result, Jenny was not required to pay offence penalties and did not accumulate 6 demerit points.

Jenny emailed our DOLS solicitor to thank her for her advice, support and time taken to review her documentation before her court date:

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service during a recent legal matter I was involved in. My solicitor not only took the time to explain the intricacies of my case over the phone but also followed up with a detailed email, which included an Apology letter template and Character reference letter sample. Her guidance in helping me understand where and how my court case would unfold was invaluable. What stood out to me the most was her willingness to review my documents late into the afternoon and provide thorough feedback before my court appearance. Her dedication ensured that I was well-prepared, and I am confident that I would not have achieved such a positive outcome without her expert advice and support. This experience has had a significant impact on me and my family, and I wanted to ensure that her efforts are recognised at the highest level.
